Some Gmail tricks

Interesting blogpost from Lifehacker about this.
Including what I see from the comments, there's three useful tips here, as follows:

1. If your address is yourname@gmail.com, you can also use yourname@googlemail.com
2. Another possibility is to use yourname+anything@gmail.com For example, if your address is jimihendrix@gmail.com, mail addressed to jimihendrix+thesixties@gmail.com will also reach your inbox (although some commenters mention that some web forms don't always like this format)
3. Dots placed anywhere in the yourname part of the address won't affect it. So, "..jimi...hendrix@gmail.com" will still reach jimi's inbox.

The benefit of these variations is that it gives you an opportunity to provide slightly altered email addresses to suspect recipients. Then you can filter out mails coming in with slightly changed addresses and route them to a special "box". This might give a clue as to who is passing on your address to spammers.
