Want to know how to compost?

This is an absolute first for me. I have never written anything here (or anywhere else for that matter) about gardening.
Indeed, I am absolutely not a gardener although I do enjoy a well-cared-for garden.
However, the patch of ground around my house is not well looked after, although we do, now and again, at least try to keep the grass cut.
So, we have a lot of grass cuttings. Plus we do have quite a bit of stuff thrown out from the kitchen.
This article suggests that these, among quite a few others, are ideal ingredients for preparing compost.
I'm going to have to try this. Just have to overcome my laziness in this regard.
