Raid HD systems

Cormac has a RAID system on his Dell 9200 computer but I can't say I really know anything about it other than the fact that it essentially rules out partitioning the HDD in order to add other (read Linux) OSes.
Anyway, here's a nice Lifehacker article that may help me know a little more about RAID.
